In hip hop we often throw the word “classic” around a lot and whenever someone gets a certain amount of years under their belt, we tend to deem them “legend”.  Well, no group or individual deserves that title more than the great De La Soul – and the fact is – they consistently show and prove this point.  26 years in the game (yes…TWO-SIX!) Dave, Maseo and Posdnous have blessed us with a new single.  Spittin’ over a sample of Wu’s Disc 2 album intro to “Forever”, it sounds quite literally like RZA/Wu made this beat specifically for De La, just years in advance.  Butter.

De La Soul…3 Feet High and STILL rising.

If the quote “What goes around comes back around” is true, then Do-Ho Suh’s sculpture Karma embodies that phrase in every sense of the word.

Installed at the New Orleans Museum of Art the perfectly symmetric 23 foot sculpture towers endlessly into the sky. It consists of 98 cast stainless steel figures. Each figure is crouched down while blinding and standing on the shoulders of the man before him. It seems to represent mankind’s reliance of each other, and how our lives and past experiences are not self-governed, but are built up over time. A smaller bronze version of Karma is being displayed at the Albright Knox Museum in Buffalo, NY.

This piece speaks volumes and when analyzed can invoke an array of perceptions. What does karma mean to you?

“FIND VALUE IN PRODUCING A REALLY GOOD PRODUCT IN AN HONEST WAY”

If you’ve seen our post “A Dude & His Barber” (also by Thrash Lab).  You’ll like this one too, its “well done” (sorry couldn’t resist).  It showing the culture of local butcher shops and the pride and practice that goes into it.  We aren’t trying to tell you to eat meat by any means, but this is more about being passionate about your craft and kind of going along with that saying, “you’ll never work a day in your life if your doing something you love”.  These people just want to help people in the right way, whether it be the farmers or the families that consume the product, they’re not trying to hit it rich.  Their seems to be more of a push to be “local” these days to help support the community.  An example would be American Express’s Small Business Saturday that was on Nov. 24th.  This can be going to your local coffee shop instead of something mainstream,  buying clothes at a boutique shop than a major retailer, or buying your music from the record shop around the corner.

Me, myself, I am located in Savannah, GA and this a great foodie city.  Some many locally owned restaurants.  Foodies love it here so much great diverse food everywhere.  After watching this video I realized the home cook here wouldn’t have much of a place to get their meat, so if anyone is out there passionate about giving the people a good, healthy product, awesome piece of meat please consider opening a shop here in Savannah.

Today is the day in NYC if your looking for some new streetwear apparel.  The Agenda Show is in New York, NY at 82 Mercer Street tonight and tommorow from 9am-6pm, so go check it out!  If you don’t know what Agenda is a tradeshow founded by Aaron Lavant, who actually was just recently put on Complex’s 25 Most Powerful People in Streetwear.  (This article was a great read by the way if your into streetwear.)  Agenda started with from only a few brands in 2003 to over a 300 brand trade show tonight.  Go check this event out, get inspired, get creating…
